About the Artwork:
The Mademoiselle Collection is inspired by the classic elegance of fashion eras of the past, family stories and a touch of fantasy. Isobel is the first work of art in this Collection – influenced by the decorative style of Art Nouveau and fashion of the 1920s and 30s.
I remember My Grandmother's Pearls.
Two long strands were held together by an oval-shaped clasp decorated with faux gemstones. They would adorn her on casual outings and social gatherings. Being a versatile piece of jewellery, the pearls accessorised any garment from the everyday to the occasional. They sparkled and glistened in the most attractive way and would always catch my eye when my grandmother wore them.
A bottle of Chanel No5 eau de parfum sat on top of the dresser.
It was placed towards the back so you could not easily reach it. My mother would tell me it was a very elegant perfume and you would wear it on special occasions to accompany a beautiful dress – precious dabs of this divine essence graced your inner wrists and upper neckline, and an extra-special press on your décolletage was applied. The bottle remained on the dresser long after the perfume had been used up.
Isobel has turned to look back.
She has in her possession some mementos from her grandmother. Her arm extends to the right side of the painting, touching her future, but for a brief moment she has turned to look back at the past and remember. Two female figures adorn the vase behind her and they visually suggest a connection between the present and the past – we decorate objects to tell and record our stories.
The inspiration for Isobel.
Those early memories of my grandmother's pearls and perfume became the inspiration for Isobel. Her style is original, combining the intricate detail of sequin, gemstones and accessories with vibrant floral passages contrasting against the richness of black and gold – the focus settling on Isobel's expression and her grandmother's shimmering white pearls.
Regardless of the path you travel in life, a stunning dress adorned with accessories of personal significance and an unforgettable perfume can help to sweeten the journey!

Why I Chose Isobel
I fell in love with Isobel when I first saw her. I was taken back in time – the style, the pearls and jewellery, the dress, and the visual aesthetic. The way in which Elena uses colour is incredible – it's rich and intense but at the same time it gives me a sense of serenity. Elena's creativity is inspiring!
